How We Use Your Data
- Provide and personalize the learning experience (adaptive difficulty, recommendations, progress tracking).
- Process subscriptions and manage your account status.
- Send transactional emails: placement test results, waitlist confirmations, account approvals.
- Respond to contact form submissions.
- Enforce free-tier usage limits.
- Improve the platform based on aggregate usage patterns.
- Live Class Recordings: If your sessions are recorded (e.g. via Fathom, Zoom, or Google Meet), we use them for quality assurance, teacher feedback, and session summarization. These recordings are private and only accessible to the student and their instructor.
- AI Feedback and Tools: If you submit text, files, or voice inputs to our AI tools (such as Ani), this data is processed via Google Gemini API to generate educational feedback, vocabulary advice, and roleplay exercises. This data is used solely to provide educational feedback and is not used to train external models.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your account or learning data for third-party ad targeting. Public dictionary, story, and explainer pages may display contextual advertising.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:
- Supabase (database, authentication) — stores your account and learning data. Hosted in AWS Asia-Pacific.
- Google (OAuth sign-in) — if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture. Google Calendar access may be requested for class scheduling features.
- Stripe (payments) — processes subscription payments securely. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Google Gemini (AI) — powers Ani chat, word article generation, and writing/speaking evaluation. Your prompts and responses are sent to Google's API for processing.
- Resend (email) — sends transactional emails from [email protected].
- Cloudflare (hosting, CDN) — serves the website and campus application.
- Notion (CRM) — contact form submissions are stored in our Notion workspace.
- Fathom (meeting assistant) — private class sessions may be recorded, transcribed, and summarized through Fathom for quality assurance and session notes.
- Google AdSense (advertising) — may serve ads on public dictionary, story, and explainer pages after advertising consent where required. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this and other websites. Google's advertising cookies enable Google and its partners to serve ads based on visits to our site and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ad Settings.
Cookies and Local Storage
We use minimal browser storage:
- Supabase auth tokens (localStorage) — keeps you signed in between visits. Essential for the app to function.
- User preferences (localStorage) — dark mode setting, last viewed page, sidebar favorites.
- Session data (sessionStorage) — temporary data like placement test results during the signup flow. Cleared when you close the tab.
- Cloudflare — may set cookies for security and performance (DDoS protection, bot detection).
- Google AdSense — may set advertising cookies on public content pages to serve and measure ads after advertising consent where required.
You can manage non-essential cookie choices in our Cookie Policy. We do not use advertising cookies inside the logged-in campus learning experience.
Data Retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you deactivate your account, we retain your data for 30 days in case you change your mind, then delete it. Contact form submissions are retained in our CRM indefinitely for business purposes.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data — email us and we'll provide a copy.
- Correct inaccurate data — you can update your profile in Settings.
- Delete your account and data — email us or use the deactivate option in Settings.

Your personal data and class records may be processed and stored in the United States, where Makreate LLC is registered, or in other countries where our cloud hosting providers (such as Supabase and Amazon Web Services) maintain servers. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer and processing of data internationally.
