〜している間に / 〜する間 / 一方で

Meaning

While most often means during the time that something else is happening. It can also introduce contrast, but the primary learner trap is using while with a length of time: say for two hours, not while two hours. Do not confuse it with wile, a trick.

  He answered emails while I cooked dinner.
• 運転中はスマートフォンを見ないでください。
  Do not look at your phone while driving.
