Meaning

Verbose means using more words than necessary, often making speech or writing harder to follow. It is a useful critical word for reports, explanations, emails, and instructions. Do not confuse it with verbal, which means spoken or related to words.

  • その説明は正確でしたが、冗長で読みにくかったです。
    The explanation was accurate but verbose.
  • 彼女は冗長な段落を短い箇条書きに書き換えました。
    She rewrote the verbose paragraph as short bullet points.
