Meaning

Triage is the process of sorting patients by urgency so the most serious cases get attention first, especially when resources are limited. It is not treatment itself. The learner trap is using triage to mean diagnose or cure.

• 救急外来では看護師が患者のトリアージを行います。
  In the emergency room, nurses perform triage on patients.
• 事故の後、最初の作業は負傷者のトリアージでした。
  After the accident, the first task was triage of the injured.
