Definition
Though has two main grammatical functions:
1. CONJUNCTION (= although): introduces a contrast at the start or middle of a sentence.
'Though it was raining, we went outside.' (even though it was raining)
'I liked the film, though the ending was weak.' (but the ending was weak)
2. ADVERB at the end of a sentence (very conversational): adds a surprising or contrasting note.
'The restaurant was expensive. The food was excellent, though.' (= but the food was excellent)
This end-of-sentence 'though' is distinctly British English and very natural in speech. It cannot be replaced by 'although' in this position.
