CEFR B1
syllabus
Translation
シラバス / 授業計画 / 学習要綱
Meaning
A syllabus is a document that outlines the content, schedule, and requirements of a specific course or class. Students receive it at the start of term. It tells them what topics will be covered, when assignments are due, and how grades are calculated. The plural is irregular: you can say 'syllabuses' (more common in everyday use) or 'syllabi' (the Latin plural, more formal). Japanese learners will recognize 'シラバス', which is used in Japanese universities with the same meaning.
Examples
- 授業の初日に先生がシラバスを配った。
The teacher handed out the syllabus on the first day of class. - 試験範囲はシラバスに書いてある。
