CEFR A2
souvenir
Translation
お土産 / 記念品 / 思い出の品
Meaning
An object bought or kept as a reminder of a visit to a place or a special event. 'She bought a small Eiffel Tower model as a souvenir from Paris.' Note: 'souvenir' and Japanese 'お土産 (omiyage)' are similar but not identical. お土産 is primarily about bringing gifts back for others; a souvenir can be for yourself as a personal memory. When giving gifts from travel, you can say 'I brought you a souvenir' or 'I brought you something from my trip.'
Examples
- 友達へのお土産に小さなキーホルダーを買った。
