Definition
Short trousers that end above the knee. 'He wore shorts to the beach.' Like trousers and jeans, 'shorts' is always plural in English because it has two legs. Say 'a pair of shorts' to refer to one item. Important caution: in Japanese, 'shoozu' (ショーツ) can refer to women's underwear, but in English 'shorts' means the outerwear garment only. Do not confuse these.
