Definition
Selfish means caring only about yourself and not thinking about or helping others. A selfish person takes the last piece of food without asking, keeps all the resources for themselves, or makes decisions without considering how they affect others. 'He is selfish — he never shares anything.' For Japanese learners: わがまま (wagamama) is close, but has more of a childish or spoiled nuance. 自己中心的 (jiko chuushinteki) is more neutral and academic.
