relationship (A2)
カタカナ: リレーションシップ
IPA: /rɪˈleɪʃənʃɪp/
Definition
A connection between people, or the way two things are connected. It can be romantic ('they're in a relationship') or non-romantic ('the relationship between teacher and student'). In English, 'relationship' does NOT automatically mean romantic — context decides. Key pattern: 'have a relationship WITH', not 'TO'.
意味: 人と人のつながり、または二つのものがつながっている状態。恋愛関係('they're in a relationship'=彼らは交際中)にも非恋愛関係('the relationship between teacher and student'=先生と生徒の関係)にも使えます。英語では'relationship'は自動的にロマンチックな意味にはなりません——文脈で決まります。大切なパターン:'have a relationship WITH'(前置詞はWITH)、'TO'ではありません。
