ラーメン / 拉麺
Meaning
A Japanese noodle dish consisting of wheat noodles served in a broth with various toppings such as sliced pork, soft-boiled egg, bamboo shoots, nori, and green onions. Regional styles in Japan include tonkotsu (pork bone broth), shoyu (soy sauce broth), shio (salt broth), and miso. 'Ramen' is also well known internationally through the instant noodle version (cup noodles/instant ramen), which is much simpler than traditional restaurant ramen.
