Definition
To pour means to cause a liquid to flow out of a container in a steady stream, usually by tilting it. 'She poured tea into the cup.' It also describes rain falling heavily: 'It is pouring!' For Japanese learners: 'pour' is close to 注ぐ (to pour/fill a drink) and this is the most common usage. But note that in English, you also 'pour' yourself into work (give all your energy to it), which is a very common figurative expression.
