official (B1)
カタカナ: オフィシャル
IPA: /əˈfɪʃəl/
Definition
Official describes something that is formally approved, authorized, or recognized by a person or institution in authority. 'The official announcement', 'the official language', 'the official website'. 'Official' is also a noun: 'a government official' (a person with authority in government), 'a sports official' (a referee or umpire). Japanese learners should note both uses — the adjective ('official results') and the noun ('an official from the Ministry'). The opposite is 'unofficial' — informal, not formally recognized.
意味: 'official'は権威ある人物または機関によって正式に承認・認可・認められていることを表します。'The official announcement'(公式発表)、'the official language'(公用語)、'the official website'(公式ウェブサイト)。名詞としても使われます:'a government official'(政府高官)、'a sports official'(審判)。日本人学習者は形容詞('official results')と名詞('an official from the Ministry')の両方の使い方を覚えましょう。反対語は'unofficial'(非公式の)です。
