CEFR C2
moot
Translation
Meaning
Moot is tricky because it has two common legal and academic senses. In British-style usage, a moot point may be open to debate. In common American usage, a moot point often means the issue no longer has practical importance. Do not confuse it with mute, meaning silent.
Examples
Because the contract was canceled, that condition is now moot. -
This remains a moot point.
