Meaning

The act of frightening or overawing someone, often to compel them to do something against their will or to prevent them from acting freely.

Examples

  • The witness refused to testify, citing fear of intimidation from the defendant's associates.

  • Union leaders condemned the company's tactics, calling them a clear attempt at worker intimidation.
