Meaning

Intension is a technical word in logic and semantics for the internal content of a concept: the properties that make something count as that concept. It contrasts with extension, the things the concept applies to. Do not confuse it with intention, a plan or aim.

Examples

• triangle の内包には三つの辺を持つことが含まれます。
  The intension of triangle includes having three sides.
• 二つの語は同じ外延を持っても、異なる内包を持つことがあります。
  Two terms may have the same extension but different intension.
