Meaning
In addition to means besides or as well as — it adds extra information to what was already mentioned. It is followed by a noun or gerund, not a clause. 'In addition to English, she speaks Mandarin.' (= she speaks both — English was already known, Mandarin is the added information) It is more formal than 'also' and works well in formal writing and speech.

- 英語に加えて、彼は日本語と韓国語も話します。
In addition to English, he speaks Japanese and Korean. - 授業料に加えて、教材費も必要です。
In addition to tuition, textbook fees are also required.
