Meaning
Not thinking of yourself as better than others; recognizing your own limitations honestly. 'Despite her success, she remained humble and easy to talk to.' 'Humble' is positive in English. It also has an older meaning of low social status ('a humble background'), though this usage is less common today. As a verb, 'to humble someone' means to make them feel less important: 'The loss humbled the champion.'
自分を他人より優れていると思わず、自分の限界を正直に認める様子。'Despite her success, she remained humble.'(成功しても彼女は謙虚でいた)。英語では'humble'はポジティブな言葉です。低い社会的地位という古い意味もありますが、現代ではあまり使われません。動詞として'humble someone'は「誰かを謙虚にさせる」の意味です。
