Meaning
Not thinking of yourself as better than others; recognizing your own limitations honestly. 'Despite her success, she remained humble and easy to talk to.' 'Humble' is positive in English. It also has an older meaning of low social status ('a humble background'), though this usage is less common today. As a verb, 'to humble someone' means to make them feel less important: 'The loss humbled the champion.'
