Definition
'Forever' means for all time, with no end. 'I will love you forever' means eternal love. In everyday speech, 'forever' is also used informally to mean a very long time: 'This is taking forever!' = this is taking much too long. This informal use is very common and does not actually mean literally forever. British English sometimes writes it as two words 'for ever', but one word 'forever' is standard in American English and increasingly common globally.
