Meaning

Fictional means existing in a story, film, game, or imagined world rather than in real life. It does not normally imply fraud or lying. For a false name in an official document, fictitious or fake is usually better.

Examples

  • シャーロック・ホームズは架空の探偵です。
    Sherlock Holmes is a fictional detective.
  • そのゲームは架空の都市を舞台にしています。
    The game is set in a fictional city.
