Meaning
'Decorate' means to make something look more attractive or festive by adding ornaments, colors, or objects. You 'decorate' a room, a Christmas tree, a cake, or a party venue. It is also used in British English to mean to paint or wallpaper the inside of a house: 'We're decorating the bedroom this weekend' means repainting or wallpapering, not just adding ornaments. In the American English sense, 'decorate' is closer to 'add decorations'. The transitive form is most common: 'Decorate the tree', 'We decorated the hall'.
