Meaning

Cue means a signal that tells someone when to do or say something, or a hint that prompts a reaction. It can also be a verb: cue the music. Do not confuse it with queue, a line of people or tasks.

Examples

• 司会者の合図で音楽が始まりました。
  The music started on the host's cue.
• 彼女の表情が、話題を変える合図になりました。
  Her expression was my cue to change the subject.
