Meaning

A creek is a small stream of water, especially in American, Australian, and some other varieties of English. It can be narrow enough to step across or large enough to need a bridge. Do not confuse creek with creak, a squeaking sound.

Examples

  • 子どもたちは小川で石を拾いました。
    The children picked up stones in the creek.
  • 大雨の後、その小川は急に深くなりました。
    After the heavy rain, the creek became suddenly deep.
