きしむ / きしみ音
Meaning
Creak means to make a creaking sound: a long, high or rough noise when wood, metal, doors, floors, or old objects move. As a noun, a creak is that sound. Do not confuse creak with creek, a small stream.
Examples
- 古い階段が一段ごとにきしみました。
The old stairs creaked with every step. - 夜中にドアのきしむ音が聞こえました。
I heard the creak of a door in the middle of the night.
