Meaning

Commensurate means properly matching something in size, amount, level, or seriousness. It is usually used with with: pay commensurate with experience. Do not confuse it with consummate, which means highly skilled or to complete something.

Examples

• 給与は経験に見合ったものになります。
  The salary will be commensurate with experience.
• 罰は違反の重大さに相応でなければならない。
  The punishment must be commensurate with the seriousness of the offense.
