chest (A1)
IPA: /tʃɛst/
Definition
The front part of the body between the neck and the stomach, covering the ribs and lungs. 'He felt a sharp pain in his chest.' Note that 'chest' in English also means a large storage box — context makes the meaning clear. Japanese learners should note that 'mune' (胸) covers both chest and breast, but in medical English 'chest' is preferred for the ribcage area.
He felt a sharp pain in his chest.'(彼は胸に鋭い痛みを感じた)。
