career (B1)
IPA: /kəˈrɪər/
Definition
A career is the series of jobs and professional experiences a person has over their working life, especially in one field. 'She has had a brilliant career in medicine.' Unlike a single 'job' (a specific position you hold now), a 'career' refers to the whole journey. 'Career' can also be used as an adjective: 'a career change', 'a career break', 'a career goal'. In modern English, 'portfolio career' refers to someone who works multiple part-time jobs or freelance roles instead of one full-time job — a growing trend.
She has had a brilliant career in medicine.'(彼女は医学分野で輝かしいキャリアを積んだ)。
