Meaning

Capitulate means to stop resisting and surrender or give in, often after pressure, defeat, or negotiation. It is usually intransitive: a side capitulates, or capitulates to demands.

  The besieged city capitulated after three days.
• 会社はついに労働組合の要求に屈した。
  The company finally capitulated to the union's demands.
