Meaning

Abet means to help or encourage someone to do something wrong or illegal. It is much more negative than help. The trap is using abet for ordinary support, such as helping a friend study.

• 沈黙しているだけでも、不正を助長することがあります。
  Silence can sometimes abet wrongdoing.
