Meaning
This phrase expresses resignation or acceptance of a situation that cannot be changed or improved. It's used when you acknowledge that something is beyond your control and you have to just deal with it. It can convey a sense of 'too bad, but what can you do?' or 'there's nothing else we can do about it.'
Examples
- 雨でピクニックが中止になった。仕方ないね。
The picnic was canceled due to rain. It can't be helped, can it? - 電車が遅れても、仕方ない。次の電車を待とう。
Even if the train is delayed, there's nothing we can do. Let's wait for the next one.
