Meaning

A type of beetle that has evolved to closely resemble a wasp in color and shape, a survival strategy called Batesian mimicry that deters predators who avoid stinging insects. The wasp beetle (Clytus arietis) is a common example in Europe, known for its black body with yellow bands and its wasp-like buzzing flight.
