To administer a drug to an animal or person in order to make them calm or unconscious.

Examples

  • The zookeepers had to tranquilize the escaped tiger before they could safely return it to its enclosure.
  • Before the delicate operation, the medical team decided to tranquilize the patient to ensure they remained still.
