A utensil consisting of a wire or plastic mesh held in a frame, used for straining solids from liquids or for separating coarser particles from finer ones.

Examples

  • Use a fine sieve to drain the cooked pasta.
  • The baker used a sieve to dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar.
