Meaning
A polite and common Italian response used to mean 'you're welcome' after someone thanks you, or to mean 'please' when offering something or inviting someone to do something.
Examples
- After I thanked the waiter, he smiled and said, 'Prego!'
- The host gestured to the chair, saying, 'Prego, please sit down.'
Synonyms: you're welcome, my pleasure, no problem, don't mention it
