Meaning

A polite and common Italian response used to mean 'you're welcome' after someone thanks you, or to mean 'please' when offering something or inviting someone to do something.

Examples

  • After I thanked the waiter, he smiled and said, 'Prego!'
  • The host gestured to the chair, saying, 'Prego, please sit down.'
