The act of inventing or producing something false, often with the intent to deceive; a lie or a made-up story.

Examples

  • The journalist was fired after it was discovered that much of his article was a fabrication.
  • Her excuse for being late was an elaborate fabrication, involving a fictional traffic jam and a broken-down bus.
