Meaning

The state of being caught or trapped, often in a situation from which it is difficult to escape, such as a trap, a deception, or a complicated problem. This can refer to physical entrapment, but more commonly it describes being entangled in a web of circumstances, obligations, or deceit.

Examples

  • The hikers found themselves in a state of ensnarement, surrounded by dense forest with no clear path out.
  • The politician's ensnarement in the corruption scheme was revealed through a series of leaked documents.
