Completely wrong or opposite of what is intended; done in a way that is completely reverse of what is correct or effective.

Examples

  • The company's new strategy was bass-ackwards, and it ultimately led to their downfall.
  • I tried to assemble the furniture, but I think I did it bass-ackwards because it doesn't look right.
