Definition
A player who is running around the bases, attempting to score a run. Baserunners can attempt to advance to the next base by running or by being advanced by a teammate's hit or other play.
Examples
The baserunner on first base took a large lead, trying to get a good jump on the pitch.
The catcher threw the ball to second base, trying to pick off the baserunner.
The baserunner scored from third base on a sacrifice fly, tying the game in the bottom of the ninth inning.
