In a state of being raised, especially an anchor just clear of the bottom, or a sail hoisted and ready to be set.

Examples

  • The captain announced that the anchor was atrip, and the ship was ready to depart.
  • With the main sail atrip, the crew prepared for a swift journey across the bay.
