A person who makes an affirmation, a solemn declaration that is legally binding, usually in place of an oath, often for religious or conscientious reasons.

Examples

  • The court accepted the testimony of the affirmant, who stated their religious beliefs prevented them from swearing an oath.
  • As an affirmant, she was required to promise to tell the truth under penalty of perjury.
